Since the beginning of this year, Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders has received the most mentions on both 24-hour cable news channels (CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News) and the broadcast evening news shows (ABC’s World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, and NBC Nightly News). Former Vice President Joe Biden has the second-most mentions on cable news and the third-most mentions on broadcast evening news.
Even though he was not on the ballot in the first four primary contests, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has received the third-most mentions on 24-hour cable news and the second-most mentions on the broadcast evening news programs, beating out all other candidates who had been in the race during this time frame, including several candidates who had finished well in early voting states. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, billionaire Tom Steyer, and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard each received far fewer mentions.
