NEIL CAVUTO (HOST): It's one thing when Democrats are saying, “Mr. President -- get out and get out now." It is quite another when a Republican -- a prominent Republican Congressman of that -- is saying the same thing.
Adam Kinzinger joins us right now. The Illinois Republican has been advocating invoking the 25th Amendment right now which would force the issue.
Congressman, good to have you. Why now? He's got what -- 13 days? Why not wait it out?
ADAM KINZINGER: So, if you think about when the 25th Amendment has been invoked, all voluntarily, George W. Bush for instance, I think, for a couple hours was under anesthetic and transferred powers to Vice President Cheney, all because having the government unmanned for even an hour or two, poses a massive threat.
After what we saw yesterday, you know, both the incitement at the rally, but I think just as importantly his last tweet where he basically said, “This is what you get."
It does not seem like anybody is really manning the executive branch. And it pains me to do it. It really is a huge burden, but the top thing that we have to swear in to and promise is to protect the people, to protect the people's house. And that failed yesterday.
And if we get out of the emotion of the politics of it, I think people would see clear eyed that this is not what the United States of America is about or should be.
NEIL CAVUTO: It takes awhile to do that, though, doesn't it? And he's -- like I say, 13 days away from ending his presidency as it is.
